there's no such thing as a free exorcism

At "Becky's Shorty Lu's Café" AJ and I had eggs over easy with hashbrowns a side of bacon, and passed on the unexpectedly available exorcism.

Then we hightailed it up to the land for some much neeed rest and relaxation. The plan was to camp, hike, and relax ... but (as any of you who know a Beckman aleady know...) Beckmans don't rest, they just work under different circumstances in different places. Usually harder.

And did they had have work cut out for them today: removing a beaver damn. The little guy had set up shop in a 50' long 6' high culvert, and with all the recent rains had managed to build a 10' deep beaver pond ... which was very cool! But he also managed to wash out the only road that serves the area, which was not as cool.

Hours of picking, pulling, and slopping were eventually met with a few more hours weilding industrial cable and 4' metal posts (fashioned as make-shift grappling hooks and anchors), and hoping like hell that a Bobcat could pull the damn thing out of there.

It didn't. Well not in one spectacular piece like we hoped. More like 50 tearing and ever-tightening pieces.

There must have been a million sticks lodged in that mass! Thousands of pounds of wood, mud and grass pressed together by hundreds of thousands of pounds of rushing rain water ... all gestated into one ginormous (practically impenetrable and immovable) chinese puzzle.

While the guys did their work I did mine ... picking wild raspberries and keeping camp. Everyone quite content doing their thing ... and exorcising their demons without having to call in Becky to do the job.
